Edit a pending restore request

You can edit a pending restore request to update the set of files it contains. If you are a data administrator, you can also edit restore requests on behalf of users within your span of administrative control. After you edit a request, you can either continue to leave it pending or start the request to notify the Agent to begin the restore process.

NOTE: Connected supports only one active (pending or in progress) restore request per device. You can add additional files to a device's pending request. However, if request is in progress, you cannot create another request for that device until the restore completes or you cancel it.

Before you begin

Review common restore scenarios to ensure that you understand the outcome of different types of restore requests, such those that restore deleted items or restore files from a certain point in time.

To edit a restore request

  1. Click the RESTORE tab.

By default, the page displays active restore requests for your devices and, if you are a data administrator, requests you created for other users.

  2. (Data administrators only) To see the requests of a specific user under your span of control, regardless of who created them, under USER, enter the person's email address.
  3. Click the pending restore request you want to modify, and then click EDIT (edit icon).
  4. To remove an item, click it, and then click REMOVE.
  5. To add items, do the following:

    1. Click ADD FILES.
    1. To see the selected backup set from a previous point in time, in the View files as of area, set a specific date and time.

Viewing files from a previous point in time makes it easier to add multiple files as they existed at a specific point in time, such as from earlier in the day or from a previous day.

    2. Find the files and folders that you want to restore:

      • To restore a deleted item, under VIEWING, click Active and Deleted Items.
      • To see previous versions of a file, select the file, and then click VERSION HISTORY ( version history icon ).

These actions apply only to the state of the backup set that you are currently viewing. For example, while viewing the backup set from a previous point in time, a file's version history contains files only from the specified time and earlier. Any files backed up after that time are not shown because they did not exist yet.

    3. Select one or more items, and then click RESTORE (restore icon).

To select multiple items, press and hold either the Command (macOS) or Ctrl (Windows) key while you click each item. To select a group of contiguous items, select the first item, and then press the Shift key while you click the last item.

To process requests after you start them, the Agent must be running, have a network connection, and you must be logged on to the device as the user who owns the files. Otherwise, the Agent restores the files the next time these conditions are met. If the Agent receives a restore request while it is syncing files, it restores the files after the sync process completes.
