Start using Connected

Getting started with Connected is straightforward.

First step

Install the Connected Agent.

The Agent protects and syncs files on your computer by automatically uploading them to Connected for safekeeping. If your Connected administrator has already installed the Agent for you, the Connected icon (green square with the white letters "CMX") appears either in the Windows notification area or the macOS menu bar. If the Agent is not installed, you can install it yourself.

That's it. The first time the Agent starts after installation, it automatically backs up and syncs files according to the administrative policy that applies to you. If your first backup contains a very large number of files, it can take a long time to complete; however, you can monitor its progress.

Enhance your Connected experience

To gain the most benefit from all that Connected has to offer, consider doing the following:

  • Take a quick look at how Connected protects and helps manage your files across all of your devices.

  • Manage your backup set.

Although the Agent automatically backs up files based on administrative backup policy, you can add and remove files from your backup set to ensure that the Agent protects your most important files.

  • Sync files between your devices.

  • Share any of your Connected files with other people.

Give others view-only access to a static copy of your files for a limited time by sharing them through the Connected web application.

  • Collaborate with other people.

Provide others a real-time view of your Connected files so that they always have access to the most recent versions.

  • Access your Connected files from any web browser.

You can also access your files, except those in collaborations, through Connected Web application.

Watch your Connected data grow

Over time, your set of files in Connected changes as you back up and sync files. If interested, you can view the distribution of your Connected files by size, date modified, and file group.
